THE TRAMUNTANA

The Serra de Tramuntana is the origin of our dream, a vision shared by a group of wine lovers: to transform a fruit tree farm into a vineyard capable of conveying the essence of Mallorca’s most authentic and wild landscape. This project was born from a deep connection with the environment, based on respect for and appreciation of this unique land.

On June 29, 2011, the Serra de Tramuntana was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the Cultural Landscape category. This distinction recognizes the age-old interaction between nature and humanity, where agriculture has transformed the land, creating a complex water management network that connects plots of feudal origin in an environment with scarce water resources.

MORTITX PUBLIC ESTATE

Bordering our vineyards lies the Mortitx public estate, a 719.27-hectare area with highly irregular terrain typical of the karst landscape that dominates the region. Here, the vegetation consists of reeds, pines, holm oaks, and a high presence of endemic plant species. The estate is also home to recovery programs for species such as the black vulture and the ferreret (Mallorcan midwife toad), as well as offering hiking trails and a small refuge for short stays.

One of the most outstanding and emblematic species you can find here is the majestic Black Vulture (Aegypius monachus). This imposing bird of prey, with its large wingspan and dark plumage, is one of the largest scavenging birds in Europe. Watching the Black Vulture soaring over the skies of the Serra de Tramuntana is a breathtaking sight and an experience you will not easily forget.

The GR 221 Dry Stone Route is a hiking trail designed to let you discover the dry-stone landscapes of the Serra de Tramuntana. It allows you to visit interesting historical remains, experience the traditions, architecture, customs, gastronomy, and craftsmanship of this privileged area of the island.

The hiking route often approaches the coast and, in some sections, the highest peaks of the range. It currently offers 183.3 kilometers of open and signposted paths and crosses all the municipalities of the Serra de Tramuntana. The route is mainly based on the network of old paths restored by the Consell de Mallorca, which, thanks to the island’s climate, can be enjoyed most of the year.

In the northern mountains of Mallorca, in a remote and solitary corner, lies the high plateau known as Ses Basses de Mortitx. Supported by a high cliff ledge above the sea, it is part of a wonderful landscape sector of indescribable wild beauty. Bounded by the high Ariant valley to the east, the twin mountain system of Puig Caragoler de Femenies and Puig Roig to the west, and the sea to the north, it offers impressive views of the intense blue sea from the lofty cliffs (“cingles”) that border the coast. Ses Basses is a peaceful spot formed by the triple crest of Puig Caragoler de Femenies (920m), Puig Ses Moles (760m), and Puig de Ses Parade. The distance between the Mortitx estate and Ses Basses is short, and the path is wide and accessible.
